Who we are: Women's Track & Field
"While doing something that we love to do, we compete for one another and want each other to be the best we can be. Our program focuses on building strong and confident women by teaching us how to overcome adversity and how to be great leaders." - Skylar White
Your impact: Last year, our “One Day for UWL” was a HUGE success. By raising over $10,000 for the Women’s Track & Field team, we were able to travel to high-level competitions in Chicago’s Gately Park against Division I competition, we were able to bring the largest group of athletes we have ever had to the Drake Relays, and we provided an amazing experience for one of athletes by funding a trip to the USA U20 National Championships in Eugene, OR. at Hayward Field.
Additionally, we funded an unforgettable trip to Washington DC for our National Champion athletes to be recognized at the White House for their accomplishments.
Lastly, we were able to purchase state-of-the-art training and competition equipment as well as fund the salaries of our part-time assistant coaches. These individuals have tremendous impacts on the lives of our student-athletes day in and day out.
"When our program receives support on Giving Day, it instills the belief in my teammates and I that you too see the vision of our program and also believe in us achieving our goals. The financial support from family, friends, and alumni allows us to continue to build our culture. - Emma Lawrence
Your gift will support: Although we do a lot with the budgets we are given, we are always seeking ways in which to improve the experience we can offer our team and those experiences come at a cost. As our team progresses and improves each year, we would like to offer more unique opportunities for our athletes, providing high-level competition for our athletes, including trips to Chicago’s Gately Park during the indoor season, competition in California during the outdoor season, as well as our annual trip to the Drake Relays.
Another component of what we do each year is to provide team-building opportunities for our women in the form of team dinners and events, team Leadership Training, and an educational series with guest speakers from in and around our area.
Just as important as the team-building opportunities, is one of the most valuable assets of our program - our coaching staff. Your donations are absolutely critical in paying for our part-time assistant coaches’ salaries.
Lastly, our operating budgets do not include funds for recruiting. By donating to our program, you will help me get out on the road to recruit the most talented student-athletes in the Midwest, ultimately helping our program to stay at the top of NCAA DIII for years to come.
